Hughes was my former high school teacher , the father of one of my classmates and a wonderful human being. It could also become a winter destination, as we had no choice but to stop and take a few images, breathing in the visual appeal of the mountains, water and nature as far as the eye could see. It is important to hold onto parts of culture and heritage that one feels is important to their upbringing. Donny Dunphy is quite iconic with his jib rap, videos and musical performances. Him and Brenda have left an impression on myself and friends that lead to rounds of laughter when their names come up. However, that is not Rural NL. It was anything short of the snowball wars I remember as a child.

One topic of interest was the Talking Stick. My father was a fishermen and a sealer. She has been doing it now for more than 7 decades. Moose Burgers, Moose Stew and Caribou Steak have made the menus of some local restaurants and have made appearances at various festivals and special events throughout the summer.
